Non-metallic pipelines have excellent corrosion resistance and low hydraulic friction. In recent years, they have played an important role in large-scale construction in oil and gas field development, which can reduce steel corrosion, save ground investment, and reduce maintenance costs. 

As of 2012, flexible composite pipes have been applied to systems for oil and gas gathering, transportation, water supply and water injection in terrestrial oil and gas fields, with a length of more than 20,000 kilometers, accounting for about 10% of the total number of pipelines in the oil and gas field.
